Privacy policy status

Last updated August 27, 2026. This document describes GeeFox's current privacy practices and should be read together with any service-specific notices presented when information is collected.

At GeeFox ("GeeFox", "we", "our", or "us"), we take privacy and security seriously. We design our developer experience around sensitive information such as account credentials, repository metadata, deployment information, project configuration, and support communications.

This Privacy Policy describes the categories of information we may process, why we process them, how we protect them, the circumstances in which information may be shared, and the choices and rights available to you.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that is necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve GeeFox. The information we process depends on how you use the Service.

1.1 Account and identity information

  • Account information: information such as your name, email address, account identifier, and authentication details when you create or access a GeeFox account.
  • Third-party authentication: if you authenticate through a third-party identity or developer provider, we may receive information that provider makes available to us under its authorization flow.
  • Profile information: optional information you choose to provide, such as a display name, avatar, organization, or project-related information.

1.2 Developer and repository information

  • Repository metadata: repository names, branch information, commit references, deployment metadata, configuration information, and other information necessary to provide requested developer functionality.
  • Deployment information: deployment identifiers, build status, logs, timestamps, environment information, and related operational data where required to provide deployment functionality.
  • Project content: depending on the specific feature you use, GeeFox may process project files or source content when necessary to perform an action you explicitly request.

1.3 Device and technical information

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, device characteristics, language, approximate location derived from technical information, network information, and security-related events.
  • Diagnostic information such as error reports, performance measurements, crash information, and interaction telemetry where enabled.

1.4 Communications

If you contact GeeFox, we may process the information you provide, including your email address, message content, attachments, support history, and other information needed to respond to your request.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process information for specific operational, security, contractual, and legitimate business purposes, including:

  • Providing the Service: authenticate users, operate accounts, connect authorized developer services, manage repositories, facilitate deployments, and provide requested functionality.
  • Security: detect suspicious activity, prevent abuse, protect accounts and infrastructure, investigate incidents, enforce access controls, and maintain platform integrity.
  • Reliability: monitor availability, diagnose errors, improve performance, and maintain the Service.
  • Product development: understand aggregated usage patterns and improve features, workflows, accessibility, and mobile usability.
  • Communications: provide transactional messages, security notices, support responses, service announcements, and other communications necessary to operate the Service.
  • Legal obligations: comply with applicable law, enforce our terms, respond to lawful requests, and protect our rights and the rights of users and other parties.

4. Security and Protection

GeeFox applies technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, and destruction.

  • Encryption in transit: network communications are protected using modern transport encryption where supported by the relevant service.
  • Access controls: access to systems and information is restricted based on operational requirements and authorization.
  • Credential protection: authentication credentials and integration secrets are handled using security controls appropriate to their sensitivity.
  • Monitoring: security events and operational activity may be monitored to detect abuse, attacks, and unauthorized access.
  • Data minimization: we aim to limit collection and retention to information that is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. We continuously evaluate and improve our safeguards as the Service and threat environment evolve.

5. Third-Party Services and Integrations

GeeFox may integrate with external services when you choose to connect them or when they are required to provide a particular feature.

  • Developer platforms: Git hosting and source-control providers that you authorize for repository access or related actions.
  • Deployment providers: hosting and deployment services selected by you or required for a deployment workflow.
  • Infrastructure providers: hosting, storage, monitoring, email, authentication, analytics, security, and other infrastructure vendors used to operate the Service.

Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Where appropriate, we seek contractual and technical safeguards governing the information they process on our behalf.

GeeFox does not sell personal information to third parties for advertising purposes.

6. When We Share Information

We may disclose information only in circumstances reasonably necessary to operate the Service, comply with law, protect users, or perform another legitimate purpose described in this Policy.

  • Service providers: vendors and processors that provide infrastructure, security, hosting, communications, analytics, or operational services.
  • Connected services: third-party platforms you explicitly authorize, including developer or deployment providers.
  • Legal requirements: where disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
  • Safety and protection: where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security incidents, abuse, or threats to users, systems, or third parties.
  • Business transactions: information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable law.

7. International Data Transfers

Depending on the infrastructure and services used by GeeFox, information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where you live.

Where applicable law imposes requirements for international transfers, GeeFox seeks to use appropriate transfer mechanisms and safeguards for those transfers.

The precise location of data may vary by service, infrastructure provider, account configuration, and operational requirements.

8. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to provide the Service, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, satisfy legal obligations, and maintain appropriate business records.

Retention periods may differ depending on the category of information and the purpose for which it is processed. When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it in accordance with applicable requirements.

  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: request deletion of personal information where applicable legal requirements permit.
  • Restriction or objection: request restriction of or object to certain processing where available under applicable law.
  • Data portability: where legally applicable, request certain information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to GeeFox in circumstances where collection was not permitted, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

12. Account Deletion and Data Requests

If your GeeFox account supports account deletion through the product interface, you may use that mechanism to initiate deletion. You may also contact us directly if you need assistance.

Deletion may not immediately remove information that we are legally required to retain, information held in appropriately secured backups, or information that must be retained for legitimate security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal purposes.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
